The Grand Cities Bird Club was created in April of 2001 to promote birding in the greater Grand Cities area, which we arbitrarily define to be a 100-mile diameter circle centered on East Grand Forks, MN, and Grand Forks, ND. However, we realize that there are numerous individuals from further away who regularly shop in GF/EGF and/or subscribe to the Grand Forks Herald. We welcome such individuals as members of the Club and as contributors to the E-group, as they will have a major interest in the birds of our area.

Members of the GCBC conduct the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Christmas Bird Count, and sponsor occasional field trips throughout the year. Field trips are usually announced to subscribers to the Club's e-group. Field trips and other activities of the GCBC are open to all who are interested in birds.

To be a member of the GCBC and receive e-mail messages and announcements, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/grandcitiesbirdclub/ and click on “Join This Group”. A strong feature of this e-group is the sharing of bird observations by Club members through the posting of messages to the group.

The GCBC is not organized as a club in the traditional way in that it does not have a constitution or bylaws, charge dues, elect officers, or hold regular indoor meetings. Rather, it uses electronic media to link birders of the region and to organize activities (especially field trips) which bring birders together. This has worked well for several years, but the time may come when members will want the Club to become more formally organized.

This website is intended to be a one-stop source of information for birders of the Grand Cities area. To make this site a better resource, please use the Contact Us form to send suggestions, including possible contributions.
